While Carnival is primarily known for providing family-friendly cruise experiences at competitive prices, the world’s largest cruise line is shifting its focus toward high-stakes excitement for grown-up travelers. By venturing into adults-only sailings centered around casino-themed activities, they are redefining luxury entertainment through premium casino cruises that bring the thrill of the gaming floor to the high seas.

Numerous cruise blogs recently reported that Carnival will launch adults-only cruises starting in August and continuing through the fall. However, these unique experiences will only be available for a limited time.

These special cruises are known as SEA cruises (Sailings Exclusively for Adults) and ACES (All-Casino Exclusive Sailings). Due to scheduling conflicts with shipyard dry docks, Carnival has decided to run these adults-only excursions instead of some scheduled family cruises.

The change arises from shipyard scheduling issues. Consequently, the Carnival Magic and Carnival Conquest will now undergo their dry docks next spring. Additionally, some itineraries have been converted to ACES and SEA events.

Guests whose bookings were altered from family cruise experiences to adults-only formats were recently notified of the update.

“We have made an operational change for this voyage, designating it as a special Casino Event Cruise, dedicated to offering our playing enthusiasts thrilling and unique experiences,” stated Colleen Oliverio, Carnival’s director of guest sales, in communication with confirmed passengers.

Families affected by these alterations will be assisted in rebooking their trips.

SEA Not Open to All

Carnival’s trial of adults-only cruises is currently reserved for loyal guests through invitation, particularly those who are part of Carnival’s casino loyalty program, known as the Carnival Players Club. It is anticipated that Carnival’s ACES voyages will place a significant emphasis on the onboard casinos and deliver guests various promotional offers and complimentary gaming opportunities.

While the minimum age for gambling on most cruise lines, including Carnival, is generally set at 18, the SEA excursions are restricted to guests aged 21 and above.

Both the Carnival Magic and Carnival Conquest offer both smoking and nonsmoking gaming areas.

Carnival Remaining Family-First

Though Carnival intends to run a limited number of adults-only, casino-themed cruises, the cruise line has expressed no intention to lessen its family-friendly voyage offerings. This sentiment has been reiterated by Carnival spokesperson John Heald.
